# Paying for care

Most families pay for home care with a mix of savings, insurance and benefits. Here is what we accept and how each one works with us.

## What it costs

Example rate range: $30 to $36 per hour, depending on the type of care.

We give you the exact rate in writing at the first visit (example).

Minimum visit: 4 hours per visit (example)

## Private pay

We accept private pay.

## Long-term care insurance

We accept long-term care insurance and send the timesheets and care notes your insurer asks for. Most policies have an elimination period before benefits start, so check yours (example).

## VA benefits

Veterans and surviving spouses can use Aid and Attendance to pay us directly (example).

See [home care for veterans](/services/veteran-home-care/).

## Medicare

Medicare generally doesn't pay for ongoing non-medical home care. It can pay for short-term home health (nurses, therapists) when a doctor orders it.

Not sure which of these applies to you? Call and we'll go through it with you.
